Install on Windows
On Windows, the office console installs from Edge or Chrome and opens in its own window, with a Start menu entry and a taskbar icon. Crew use the field app on their phones instead: Which app do you need?
Edge
- Open ops.gumbyworks.com in Edge.
- Click the App available icon in the address bar. Or open Settings and more , then Apps (under More tools in some versions), then Install this site as an app.
- Click Install. Edge may offer to pin the app to the taskbar or Start; choose what you like.
Chrome
- Open ops.gumbyworks.com in Chrome.
- Click the install button at the right end of the address bar. Or open the menu and choose Cast, save, and share, then Install page as app (some versions say Install GumbyOps Office).
- Click Install.
The installed app shares your sign-in with the browser, so you’re usually signed in already.
Open it
Open GumbyOps Office from the Start menu, or from the taskbar once it’s pinned. While it’s open, right-click its taskbar icon and choose Pin to taskbar to keep it there.
Turn on alerts
In the console, open Settings and click Turn on alerts under Alerts on this device, then Allow. Do this inside the installed app: in a plain browser tab, Edge often shows the request as a small bell at the right end of the address bar instead, and you have to click it and choose Allow.
If the console says this browser blocks alerts, click the icon at the left of the address bar, open Permissions for this site (Edge) or Site settings (Chrome), set Notifications to Allow, and reload. Also check Windows Settings > System > Notifications: notifications on, and on for the browser.
How to tell you’re in the installed app
It has its own window with no tabs and no address bar, and its own icon in the taskbar.
Remove it
- Edge: go to
edge://apps, click Details on the app, then Uninstall. - Chrome: open the app, click the menu in its title bar, choose Uninstall GumbyOps Office, then Remove.
- Either: Windows Settings, then Apps, then Installed apps, lists it like any other app.
