Install on Android
On Android, install GumbyOps from Chrome. Once installed, it has its own icon and opens without an address bar.
Which address: crew open ops.gumbyworks.com/field. Office staff open ops.gumbyworks.com. Which app do you need?
In Chrome
- Open the address in Chrome. Crew: if your office texted you an invite link, open it and sign in first.
- If the field app shows an Install GumbyOps button, tap it, then tap Install. You’re done.
- Otherwise, tap the menu button at the top right of Chrome.
- Tap Install app. If you only see Add to Home screen (or Install and create shortcut), tap that, and choose Install if Chrome asks.
- Confirm with Install.
Open it
Look on your Home screen for GumbyOps or GumbyOps Office. If it isn’t there, swipe up to your app list, find it, then press and hold it and drag it to your Home screen.
Open it from that icon. If it opens in Chrome with an address bar at the top, the icon is only a shortcut: delete it and try Install app again.
Turn on notifications
Field app: after you tap I agree on the location screen, the installed app asks to send notifications. Tap Allow. If you skipped it, open the Me tab and tap Turn on notifications.
So notifications pop up on screen: open Settings, then Apps, then GumbyOps, then Notifications. On a Pixel, choose Default and turn on Pop on screen; on a Samsung, choose Alert.
If the Me tab says notifications are blocked: touch and hold the GumbyOps icon, tap App info, then Notifications, and turn them on.
Office console: open Settings in the console and tap Turn on alerts under Alerts on this device, then Allow.
How to tell you’re in the installed app
There’s no address bar at the top. In the field app, the “Add GumbyOps to your Home Screen” screen means you’re in Chrome, not the app; if the app is already installed, the screen says so.
Samsung Internet
If links open in Samsung Internet on your phone, open the address in Chrome instead. These steps and the app’s own install guide are written for Chrome, and we haven’t tested installing from Samsung Internet.
Remove it
Open Settings, tap Apps (then See all apps if you need to), tap GumbyOps or GumbyOps Office, and tap Uninstall. Your time, notes and photos stay with your company.
