Turn on notifications in the field app
The field app can notify you about your schedule, a long shift and team chat. Notifications work only in the app installed on your Home Screen, and on iPhone only on iOS 16.4 or later. Install it first.
What you’re notified about
| Notification | When | Tapping it opens |
|---|---|---|
| Schedule changed | The office changes your assignments | Week |
| Still clocked in | You’ve been clocked in a long time (12 hours, then again every so often) | Today |
| Team chat | A new message in your channels (several in a row are combined) | The channel |
| Mentioned you, or replied to you | Someone @mentions you or replies to your message, even in a muted channel | The message |
Turn them on
The installed app asks right after you tap I agree on the location screen. Tap Allow.
To check later, open the Me tab and look under Notifications:
- Notifications are on. You’re set.
- Notifications are off. Turn them on… Tap Turn on notifications, then Allow.
- They work only in the app on your Home Screen. You’re in the browser. Open the app from your Home Screen.
- Notifications are blocked. You tapped Don’t Allow earlier. Turn them on in the phone’s settings:
- iPhone: Settings > Notifications > GumbyOps, then turn on Allow Notifications.
- Android: touch and hold the GumbyOps icon, tap App info, then Notifications, and turn them on.
On Android, to have them pop up on screen: Settings > Apps > GumbyOps > Notifications. On a Pixel, choose Default and turn on Pop on screen; on a Samsung, choose Alert.
Not getting them?
- Open the app from its Home Screen icon once. Each time it opens, it refreshes this phone’s notification sign-up.
- Check that Focus or Do Not Disturb isn’t silencing the app.
- Muted chat channels notify you only for @mentions and replies. See Team chat.
